Nike is set to reintroduce a classic from Kobe Bryant’s signature line with the upcoming release of the Nike Kobe 5 Protro “Lower Merion Aces – Away” in Spring 2026.
This iteration pays homage to Bryant’s high school, Lower Merion, located in Ardmore, Pennsylvania, where he first showcased the talent that would eventually make him an NBA legend. Originally released in 2010, the “Lower Merion Aces – Away” colourway is making a comeback with modern performance enhancements to meet today’s basketball standards.
The “Lower Merion Aces – Away” features a striking “Metallic Silver, White and Team Red” colour scheme. The metallic silver base is complemented by team red accents on the Swoosh, laces, and inner lining, while white details provide a clean contrast. This colourway mirrors the away uniforms of the Lower Merion Aces, creating a direct link to Bryant’s high school days.
The original Kobe 5 was known for its lightweight construction, utilising synthetic materials and Flywire technology for support.
The Protro version is expected to retain these features while incorporating modern advancements. Anticipated updates include enhanced cushioning and improved traction to cater to the demands of contemporary basketball players. The low-top design promotes agility and freedom of movement, aligning with Bryant’s playing style.
