Latrell Sprewell Teases Return of the DaDa Supreme Spinner

The early 2000s were a time of bold experimentation in basketball footwear, and few sneakers encapsulated that era’s audacity quite like the DaDa Supreme Spinner. With its unmistakable spinning wheel embedded in the heel, the Spinner became an icon of its time. Now, over two decades later, former NBA All-Star Latrell Sprewell has teased a potential return of this legendary silhouette, sparking excitement and nostalgia among sneaker enthusiasts.

Launched in 2001, the DaDa Supreme Spinner was a collaboration between DaDa Footwear and Latrell Sprewell. The sneaker’s most distinctive feature was the functional chrome spinner embedded in the heel, inspired by the spinning rims popular in car culture at the time. This design choice made the Spinner a standout on and off the court, capturing the attention of both basketball fans and fashion-forward individuals.

The Original DaDa Supreme Spinner

Beyond its flashy style, the Spinner was constructed with synthetic leather uppers, providing durability and support. The midsole offered adequate cushioning for performance, while the outsole featured a herringbone pattern for traction. Despite its popularity, some users noted concerns about the sneaker’s weight and the durability of the spinning mechanism.

The Tease of a Comeback

In May 2025, Latrell Sprewell reignited interest in the Spinner by hinting at its return on social media platforms. This isn’t the first time Sprewell has suggested a comeback; previous mentions in the mid-2010s stirred similar excitement but did not materialize into a release. However, the current buzz feels more substantial.

Sprewell’s involvement with the New York Knicks and Madison Square Garden in community and media roles adds credibility to the potential reissue. His recent tease came shortly after the Knicks’ advancement to the 2024-25 NBA Eastern Conference Finals, possibly indicating a strategic timing for the announcement.
