ASICS SPORTSTYLE joined hands with Los Angeles-based collective Little Tokyo Table Tennis (LTTT) for a take on the GEL-RESOLUTION™ 5, transforming one of the brand’s most technically accomplished performances silhouettes into a lifestyle sneaked that celebrates community, creativity and the culture surrounding table tennis.
Known for combining sport with art, design and everyday life, LTTT has built a reputation for injecting playful storytelling into technical footwear. Their latest collaboration continues that philosophy, using the GEL-RESOLUTION™ 5 as a canvas for bold graphics, layered materials and subtle references that reclect the precision of table tennis and ASICS’ long-standing performance heritage.
A Performance Classic Reimagined
Originally developed as a stability-focusdd tennis shoe, the GEL-RESOLUTION™ 5 has been extensively reworked by LTTT without losing the technical DNA that made it a favourite on court.
One of the best additions is an elongated translucent ASICS Tiger Stripe that fades through a gradient finish, creating a stronger sense of speed and movement across the upper. In contrast, the medial side removes the iconic stripe completely, referencing yhe simplicity and clarity often experienced while playing table tennis.
The toe boxes receive an entirely new construction featuring playful debossed graphics alongside LTTT branding and the collective’s distinctive “40++++” logo. Gradient-filled LTTT air bubble graphics appear on both sides of the shoe as another light-hearted nod to ping pong culture.
Premium sockliners improve comfort underfoot, while custom insoles feature hand-drawn illustrations and imagery taken directly from the LTTT universe, adding another layer of personality to each pair.
Two Clean Colourways
The collaboration arrives in two contrasting colourways, each offering its own interpretation of LTTT’s vibrant visual identity.
The first edition combines bright green and yellow knitted materials beneath transparent TPU overlays, allowing the layered construction to remain visible. Metallic silver detailing decorates the reworked toe cap, while a clear heel cage fades into an icy blue gradient through the midfoot. Underfoot, a transparent outsole reveals colourful internal elements that showcase ASICS’ technical construction.
The second version adopts a much cleaner appearance with breathable white knitted mesh contrasted by a vibrant red support system around the laces. A clear-to-red TPU Tiger Stripe enhances the sense of movement, while a bold black FF BLAST™ PLUS cushioned midsole sits above a classic gum outsole, referencing traditional indoor court sports.
Both colourways are supplied with two interchangeable lace systems, including a bungee lace fitted with an ASICS toggle alongside a no-tie lace option, allowing wearers to easily switch between different styling options.
Table Tennis at the Heart of the Collection
Every aspect of the collaboration reflects Little Tokyo Table Tennis’ unique perspective on sport as something that connects people rather than simply creating competition.
Branding from both ASICS and LTTT appears together across the tongue, reinforcing the equal creative partnership between the two brands. LTTT’s signature Kanji embroidery runs vertically down the tongue, while the raised “40++++” branding references the collective’s Los Angeles flagship space.
Campaign Celebrates Community Through Sport
Captured across Los Angeles, the accompanying campaign follows a group of friends travelling together on a sports charter bus from the Little Tokyo Table Tennis flagship before visiting two of Southern California’s best-known table tennis clubs: OCTTA and LATTA.
Throughout the campaign, participants wear the new GEL-RESOLUTION™ 5 alongside matching apparel while sharing moments of competition, laughter, relaxation and friendship. The imagery highlights the full emotional spectrum surrounding sport, emphasising that table tennis is as much about bringing people together as it is about athletic performance.
