Nigerian-British artist Olaolu Slawn reimagined the 2025 Emirates FA Cup Final, Recreating Wembley Stadium in his distinctive style. Continuing his previous collaboration with the Football Association (FA), Slawn’s designs were prominently featured throughout the stadium during the highly anticipated match between Crystal Palace and Manchester City on May 17, 2025. Slawn’s graffiti-inspired artwork adorned key areas of Wembley, including the pre-match ceremony, the players tunnel, and the celebratory champagne bottles awarded to the winners and the Player of the Match. Slawn is known for his unique style characterised by expressive lines, vibrant colours, and playful motifs. His style offered a twist to the traditional football setting.
A fresh Take on the Iconic FA Cup Trophy
Slawn’s collaboration with the FA began in 2024 when he was commissioned to redesign the iconic FA Cup trophy. Working alongside Thomas Lyte, the official silverware provider for the FA, Slawn infused the trophy with his artistic vision while respecting its legacy. The result was a one-of-a-kind piece featuring 23 spheres and teeth on the finial, symbolising Slawn’s age at the time of creation. His signature and the word “Amen” were also engraved, adding a personal touch to the prestigious award.

Bridging Cultures Through Art
Olaolu Slawn’s journey from Lagos to London has been marked by a series of groundbreaking achievements. At just 23, he became the youngest artist to design the BRIT Awards statuette in 2023. His collaborations with global music icons like Skepta and Virgil Abloh have further cemented his status as a cultural innovator. Slawn’s work, often characterised by its vibrant colours and bold forms, reflects a deep connection to his Nigerian heritage while resonating with a global audience.
