Nike Air Jordan 5 “Tokyo”

Jordan Brand is reaching into the vault to bring back one of the rarest and most coveted non-OG colourways of all time. The Air Jordan 5 “Tokyo” is officially making its return in Autumn 2025, marking the silhouette’s first re-release since its original, Japan-exclusive drop in 2011. This sneaker is a certified grail and now it’s finally within reach.

First launched to celebrate the opening of the Jordan Tokyo 23 store in Shibuya, the original 2011 “Tokyo” AJ5 was more than just a limited release. It was a tribute to Japanese sneaker culture and the brand’s growing global influence. Only a handful ever made it outside of Asia, instantly turning the pair into a holy grail for collectors worldwide.

The 2025 edition honours that legacy with near one-to-one precision, preserving the silhouette’s design.

The upper is dressed in a rich Varsity Maize yellow suede, a bold and unmissable shade. The texture is buttery soft, giving the shoe a premium, crafted feel. Wolf Grey details land on the eyestays, side netting, and tongue, offering a tonal contrast to the otherwise high-octane colour palette. Reflective 3M material on the tongue adds that signature Jordan flash.

The classic shark-tooth midsole sports a main Varsity Maize colour, with black speckles. while a translucent outsole keeps things icy below. Finishing the upper is the standout Kanji character on the lateral heel, a direct nod to its original Japanese roots and one of the design’s most beloved details.

The Air Jordan 5’s heritage tech holds up today, with a visible Air unit in the heel, sculpted ankle collar for support, and classic lace lock system to keep things locked in. The mesh panels remain for breathability, and the outsole features a durable rubber grip suited for both asphalt and hardwood.
