In February 2025, Nike celebrates Black History Month (BHM) with a bold reinterpretation of the SB Dunk Low, paying tribute to the often-overlooked legacy of Black cowboys in Western history. This marks the first BHM-themed SB Dunk release in a decade, blending cultural storytelling with striking design elements.
The sneaker features a rich Tourmaline green upper, accented by Monarch orange piping, Baroque Brown overlays, and a bold red outsole. Western-inspired details include Sonora-style embroidery on the heel, a Western star motif, and “NIKE” branding stylized like a lassoed rope. Adding to the narrative, the yellow-printed insoles depict a cowboy silhouette riding through a sunset-lit desert. Completing the tribute, the shoe includes a yellow handkerchief printed with the phrase, “What’s gonna happen is gonna happen”, a nod to the resilience and spirit of Black cowboys who braved the Western frontier.
