London, Berlin, Milan and Paris each carry their own visual language, communities and approaches to self-expression, yet all share a connection to the skate culture that has remained central to Vans since its earliest days.
The LX Era 95 City Series brings those differences together through four city specific colourways, with London Dark Mirage Brown, Berlin Asphalt, Milan Oil Green and Paris Darkest Plum giving each pair its own identity. Vans uses illustrated motifs and distinctive colourways to create a more personal connection between each silhouette and its respective location.
Four Cities, Four Takes on the LX Era 95
The LX Era 95 provides a consistent foundation across the capsule, allowing the individual details to tell the story of each city. Illustration graphics reference the character and visual energy of London, Berlin, Milan and Paris, giving every pair an intentionally imperfect quality.
Vans reinforces that idea through a heavy enzyme wash across the upper. The treatment gives the sneaker a worn-in appearance from the outset, adding texture and creating the feeling of a pair that has already spent time on city streets.
The signature checkerboard pattern remains an important part of the design, but the City Series places it within a wider story.
Vans Brings Back the DIY Spirit
The collection draws directly from the early skate communities that helped establish Vans as a cultural force. Before custom footwear became an established part of sneaker culture, skaters regularly modified their worn Vans, drawing directly onto their shoes and finding ways to make familiar silhouettes feel way more personal.
Vans references that history through the City Series, including hand-drawn interpretations of its now-iconic checkerboard pattern across the soles. The imperfect graphics reinforce the idea that individuality does not need to look polished.
