Umbro Honours Manchester With SS25 Northern Quarter Collection

British sportswear brand Umbro unveils the Northern Quarter collection and campaign for Spring/Summer 2025, a celebration of the brand’s deep-rooted connection to Manchester.

Taking inspiration from the city’s iconic Northern Quarter, the collection fuses Umbro’s sporting legacy with the creative energy of Manchester’s street culture.

For over a century, Umbro has shaped sportswear culture on and off the pitch. Recent collaborations with Palace, Supreme, and Aries have reinforced its position at the forefront of sports fashion.

Back To The Roots

With the Northern Quarter collection, Umbro shifts its focus back to where it all began, honouring its Manchester roots while pushing its design language forward.

“Umbro has always had Manchester in its DNA,” says Helene Hope, Head of Global Brand Marketing at Umbro. “This collection is no different, taking inspiration from the spirit of the Northern Quarter to make sportwear classics relevant for streetwear fanatics today.”

Reimagining football classics

The Northern Quarter collection draws from Umbro’s extensive football heritage, reinventing key archive pieces through a modern, street-ready lens.

A standout from the collection, the Zip Off Sleeve Wind Jacket is inspired by Umbro’s 1998 England track jacket, featuring removable sleeves and a concealed hood for a versatile, adaptable silhouette.

The Washed Drill Top and Washed Diamond Drill Sweat nod to the iconic drill tops of the 1990s, reimagined in washed cotton with functional updates like integrated pockets and relaxed fits.

Embodying Manchester’s creative spirit

Shot by Manchester-based photographer Jay Johnson, the Northern Quarter campaign highlights local creatives and entrepreneurs shaping the city’s future. The crew includes:

  • Jefe – a socially conscious barber and former basketball player, redefining community spaces.
  • Tomas Gittins – a street artist making his mark across Manchester’s urban landscape.
  • Seb Dixon – the owner of “Gone Fishing” vintage store.

Each individual embodies the authentic, independent, and boundary-pushing spirit of Manchester’s Northern Quarter

The Umbro Northern Quarter collection will be available from the 13th March
