The Nike ACG Zegama Hike comes a step forward in how hiking footwear is being approached right now. The ACG looks to running technology and uses that as the foundation, building something lighter, more responsive and better for long days.
At its core, the Zegama Hike borrows heavily from the Zegama Trail running shoe, taking over that sense of propulsion and cushioning. Underfoots sits a stacked foam system, led by a layer of Zoom foam directly beneath the foot. Known for its responsiveness, ZoomX gives the shoe a soft anx energetic feel, helping reduce fatique over long distances.
The upper is made with durability in mind. Rubberised overlays, reinforced toe and heel guards and a mid-cut construction provide support in the areas where it is most needed, especially around the ankle. A built-in gaiter system helps keep out debris, which becomes especially useful on loose or technical trails. The fit itself is designed around a trail-specific last, offering more room in toe forefoot and toe box.
Grip is handled by a Vibram Megagrip outsole, a reliable choice across performance hiking footwear for a long time. This outsole offers traction across different surfaces with a lug pattern designed go improve stability on descents and climbs. A slightly wide base underneath adds a sense of control.
The model was developed through extensive real-world testing, from trails in Oregon and the Alphs to urban hiking environments in Los Angeles and fit sessions in Korea.
