New Balance Introduces the ‘Allerdale’

New Balance has unveiled an all-new silhouette, the ‘Allerdale,’ a striking addition to its esteemed ‘Made in UK’ collection. Named after the historical region that houses the village of Flimby, the home of the UK production, the Allerdale seamlessly blends the brand’s walking shoe heritage with a Vintage design, resulting in a sophisticated yet versatile footwear option.

Drawing inspiration from the rugged landscapes and traditions of the UK, the Allerdale embodies a balance of form and function. This innovative model takes cues from both New Balance’s historic hiking and walking shoes, as well as modern trends, creating a sneaker that Is focused on the practical but made to compliment your wardrobe. For those who appreciate premium craftsmanship and refined aesthetics, the Allerdale is suited for various settings, from leisurely strolls to elevated casualwear.

A Tribute to Refined Leisure & Timeless Style

Designed to bridge the gap between performance and fashion, the Allerdale takes cues from the UK’s tradition of refined leisure. A silhouette that feels equally at home on geography teachers and designer sportswear-wearing casuals, the shoe embodies a unique balance of utility and identity.

With meticulous craftsmanship, the Allerdale features a sturdy cupped sole unit, heavy-duty stitching, and a rugged hiking-inspired tread. Constructed from premium leather and suede fabrications, the shoe maintains the superior quality expected from Made in UK products. Minimalist branding is marked by an embroidered New Balance logo, further enhancing its refined aesthetic.

Comfort Meets Elegance

While the Allerdale’s design leans towards a more formal aesthetic, it does not compromise on comfort. The silhouette is equipped with New Balance’s signature FuelCell cushioning technology, ensuring a smooth and responsive feel underfoot. This fusion of function and style allows the Allerdale to transition effortlessly across multiple occasions with minimal effort, drawing inspiration from across the New Balance range to create one of the most well-rounded silhouettes to date.

Sam Pearce, Creative Design Manager at New Balance:

“This is a new market opportunity for New Balance, one which looks beyond only retro running by capitalising on a shift towards a more formal and tailored approach to fashion. A cleaner, stripped-back silhouette with a focus on premium materials that are already synonymous with Made in UK production.”

James Harvey, Founder of Urban Syndicate :

“New Balance has always excelled at adapting to shifting fashion trends without losing sight of its identity, and the Allerdale is a prime example of that. With the industry gravitating towards loafers and more formal footwear, it’s refreshing to see New Balance embrace this movement in its own way, without compromising its DNA.”

A Future Icon?

The Allerdale joins a prestigious lineup of silhouettes produced at New Balance’s Flimby factory since 1991, standing alongside revered models such as the 991 and 1500. With a focus on premium craftsmanship, this new silhouette is poised to carve its own story in the world of British-made footwear, reinforcing New Balance’s dedication to quality and innovation. We look forward to seeing future iterations as the line expands
