KEEN has introduced the Wander, a brand-new trail running shoe that combines performance-focused design with one of the footwear industry’s most innovative sustainability developments to date. Launching in the UK on 23 July 2026, the Wander is designed for runners seeking a more connected feel underfoot while introducing EcoEnd, a bio-enhanced midsole technology created to organically biodegrade at the end of the shoems life.

The Wander continues that mission by proving that technical trail running footwear can deliver high-level performance without overlooking its environmental impact once its lifespan comes to an end.
According to Shaun Bohnsack, Vice President of Performance Footwear at KEEN, the concept behind the Wander was simple: create a trail runner that strengthens the connection between runners and nature while reducing the product’s long-term footprint on the environment.
Designed for a More Connected Trail Experience
Unlike many modern trail running shoes that rely on oversized midsoles, the KEEN Wander adopts a lower-profile approach. Featuring a 4mm heel-to-toe drop and a reduced stack height, the shoe is engineered to offer greater ground feel and improved awareness across changing terrain, allowing runners to feel more connected to the trails beneath their feet.
KEEN’s signature wide forefoot remains a key part of the design, encouraging a more natural foot strike and allowing the toes to spread comfortably during movement. Combined with a stable platform and responsive cushioning, the result is a trail runner built for confidence across everything from flowing woodland paths to more technical mountain routes.
The Wander also incorporates KEEN’s lightweight ans compression-resistant KEEN.ReGENX midsole, paired with a three-quarter-length rock plate that helps protect the foot from uneven terrain without sacrificing flexibility or comfort.
EcoEnd Brings a New Approach to Sustainable Footwear
The headline innovation comes in the form of EcoEnd, an industry-first solution integrated into the Wander’s midsole. The bio-enhanced material is designed to organically biodegrade at the end of the shoe’s usable life, addressing one of the footwear industry’s biggest sustainability challenges.
While the shoe retains the durability expected from modern trail running footwear throughout its lifespan, EcoEnd provides a more responsible end-of-life solution without compromising performance. The technology represents another significant step in KEEN’s wider commitment to reducing waste while still continuing to develop footwear that lasts.
The Wander also features Eco Anti-Odour technology, which uses natural probiotics to control odours without relying on harmful chemicals.
Built to Go the Distance
Durability remains central to the Wander’s design. The shoe is equipped with KEEN’s abrasion-resistant rubber outsole, featuring 3mm lugs that deliver reliable grip across a variety of trail conditions. Independently tested by biomechanics laboratory Heeluxe, the outsole has been rated to last for more than 926 miles before wearing smooth, almost double the industry average.
A breathable performance mesh upper is reinforced with durable overlays for additional structure and protection, while reflective laces improve visibility in low-light conditions and are woven to stay securely tied throughout long runs.

The KEEN Wander launches in the UK on 23 July 2026 in both men’s and women’s sizing. Priced at £120, the new trail runner will be available through KEEN and selected retailers.
