Fera is a love-letter to the British outdoors, a brand that doesn’t take itself too seriously, yet still delivers on design and functionality. Founded in the heart of the UK, the label has built the reputation on bridging the gap between streetwear and the outdoors. Fera has become a brand synonymous with technical, high-quality garments. Each piece is made to handle what mother Earth gives us.
Fera’s philosophy is rather easy: build for the unpredictable. This is exactly what mother Earth does best, provide a sudden downpour while shopping in SoHo or exploring Scafell Pike. That ethos, about building for the unpredictable has resulted in their latest garment, the Contour Rain Jacket, the perfect companion to be prepared for whatever happens.
Inspired by the Lines That Shape the Land
The Contour Rain Jacket is Fera’s first official venture into waterproof outerwear, as always the piece is loaded with the brand’s signature style and precision. The concept came from a typical phenomenon experienced in the outdoors, under heavy rain, mild disorientation and that sense of being somewhat lost between the next pub and your previous checkpoint (a karaoke bar). While being focused on a soaked map, Fera’s design team found themselves fixated on swirling contour lines, the notches that trace the shape of the earth, the lines were everywhere, etched into sides of hills, ghosted across wet tarmax and even through the froth of a pint after arriving hours later in the pub. From that long hallucination of geography the Contour design came.
Built for the Elements and Everything in Between Them
Created from a ripstop nylon shell with bonded backing, Fera’s Contour Rain Jacket combines durability and lightweight performance. Every detail has been thought of heavily, the jacket comes with an adjustable hood and cuffs, internally taped seams and an embroidered chest logo and ofcourse those contour lines envisioned in the rain between pubs. Multiple large pockets have been included to ensure a map stays dry. The jacket is also created with a common day in mind, making it perfect for an early-morning commute to work, grabbing lunch at a restaurant or going into the pub garden while it rains. Created from that one (or many!) unfortunate moments in the rain, it now is materialised by the brand.
