Japanese streetwear label Doublet returns to footwear with one of its most overtly conceptual projects to date, teaming up with ASICS on the GEL-Quantum 360 “Tyrannosaurus Rex”. Known for blurring the lines between fashion commentary and design absurdity, Doublet once again pushes a high-performance silhouette into collectible, almost sculptural territory.
The shoe is built around a full leather upper printed with an oversized T-Rex graphic. The dinosaur’s eyes stretch across the quarter panels, while its nostrils sit close to the toe, creating a layout that feels intentional rather than chaotic. It’s playful, but never sloppy, a balance Doublet has refined over multiple ASICS collaborations.
Where the concept truly comes alive is underfoot. ASICS’ full-length GEL midsole is shaped to resemble exposed dinosaur teeth, turning a core performance feature into part of the narrative. Red detailing between the upper and sole reads like gums, visually connecting the “teeth” to the body above. It’s a rare example of tooling being used as storytelling, not just function.
