Disney and Vogue have come together for launch a multi-year creative partnership that places Mickey Mouse at the centre of a broader cultural conversation, leading up to his 100th anniversary. The initiative looks to actively redefine and reinterpret his identity through a contemporary design lens.
What sets this apart is its long-term structure. Instead of doing a single drop of releasing one capsule, the partnership will gradually unfold, with multiple designers contributing their own interpretations across different moments, markets and mediums. This allows Mickey’s legacy to be explored from multiple creative perspectives, each one shaped by a different background and relationship to the iconic character.
The Role of Disney’s Archives
Central to the project is access to Disney’s massive archives, which span decades of visual material, storytelling and design references. These archives include everything from early animation work and character studies to vintage graphics and historical silhouettes, giving designers a rich foundation to build from.
These archives are positioned as a starting point. Designers are encouraged to engage with it freely, extracting elements that resonate with them and transforming those ideas into something completely new. This project creates a dialogue between past and present, one where familiar motifs are reshapen and recontextualised.
Ami Paris Opens the Programme
The first chapter of the partnership is led by Alexandre Mattiussi, the founder and creative director of Ami Paris. His collection will launch in March 2027 and sets the tone for how the initiative will develop moving forward.
Mattiussi highlighted the personal significance of working with such an iconic figure, describing Mickey as something that exists beyond generations and cultural boundaries. This idea forms the partnership as Mickey is treated as a shared point of reference.
Vogue’s Influence
Vogue’s dole within the partnership isn’t just about documenting. The company axts as a creative consultant, the publication will shape how each release is introduced framed and discussed. This includes editorial directions and supporting campaign storytelling.
A Launch in London
The partnership was introduced through a private reception held on 23rd of April at Canal. The event combined figures from fashion, media and the wider creative industry, giving an early look into the thinking behind the project.
With multiple designers set to contribute over time, the Disney x Vogue partnership is designed to grow and evolve, each collaboration will add a nee perspective, all building to a broader understanding of hoe Mickey Mouse can exist within fashion.
