CLOT spent more than two decades turning its own visual language into everything from clothing and accessories to collectibles, and now one of its most recognisable motifs is being given a much smaller canvas. For its latest project, the Hong Kong label joins forces with KODAK to rework the Charmera Keychain Digital Camera, bringing seven graphics from CLOT’s archive into a tiny point-and-shoot designed to make taking pictures feel spontaneous again.
Built around CLOT founder and Creative Director Edison Chen’s “PICTURE THAT” concept, the collaboration looks back to the carefree spirit of Kodak’s classic 1987 Fling film camera while translating that idea into a contemporary digital device. The result is deliberately compact and uncomplicated, designed to hang from your outdif as an accessory just as easily as it can be used to capture whatever happens to be in front of you.
CLOT’s Archive Becomes a Blind Box
The blind-box format makes the Charmera particularly interesting. CLOT doesn’t sell predetermined designs, each box contains one of several CLOT interpretations, with the collection drawing from more than 20 years of the label’s visual history. Among the lineup are a translucent red CLOT Charmera, the instantly recognisable black Alienegra, metallic Blue Silk Royale, CLOT Canron Cafe and a retro wood-grain version, alongside a KODAK-yellow Yellow Silk Royale.
There is also an ultra-rare secret edition, takinh the Silk Royale pattern somewhere it has never been before. The hidden rose-gold Charmera introduces a high-gloss vacuum-plating treatment that has never previously been used on a KODAK Charmera. Its metallic surface is selectively de-plated to create areas of matte contrast, giving the Silk Royale pattern additional depth.
Every blind box also comes with a custom silver charm featuring the co-branded CLOT x KODAK logo, allowing the miniature camera to function as more than just a piece of tech. It becomes something that can be clipped onto a bag, worn around the neck or incorporated into an outfit.
A Tiny Digital Camera With Its Own Visual Language
Despite its miniature proportions, the Charmera is a functioning digital camera. It features a 1.6-megapixel sensor capable of shooting ag 1440 x 1080 resolution, with both photography and video recording supported. A rechargeable battery keeps it portable, while Micro SD/TF card compatibility supports cards from 1GB up to 128GB.
CLOT and KODAK have also built their own visual layers into the device. Four exclusive digital photo frames come pre-loaded onto the camera, allowing users to add CLOT and KODAK graphics directly to their photographs.
From the Camera to the Wardrobe
The project is accompanied by an apparel capsule built around the same “PICTURE THAT” idea. Co-branded graphics appear across short-sleeve T-shirts, an open-collar shirt and a cap, while a mini camera neck strap provides an easy way to carry the Charmera with you.
