Inspired by the ASICS archive while engineered for everyday wear, the latest version of the popular sneaker introduces a series of technical upgrades designed to improve comfort and stability.
Launching on 7 August 2026, the GEL-NYC™ 2.0 continues ASICS’ approach of transforming performance running technology into footwear designed for everyday life. Building on the success if the original GEL-NYC™, the new model keeps the layered aesthetic and sport-inspired identity that made the silhouette a favourite.
Inspired by the ASICS Archive, Built for the Future
The GEL-NYC™ 2.0 takes inspiration from ASICS’ extensive archive of performance footwear, combining elements from the brand ‘s historic running models with a lifestyle-focused approach.
The layered upper remains central to the silhouette’s identity, creating a technical appearance influenced bt ASICS’ running heritage. Designed around the energy and movement of New York City, the sneaker combines retro references with a streamlined shape.
While the original GEL-NYC™ became recognised for its balance of heritage styling and comfort, the GEL-NYC™ 2.0 pushes the concept further by introducing updated materials and a new construction aimed to improve the overall wearing experience.
Improved Cushioning With FF BLAST™ PLUS Technology
One of the biggest updates comes through the midsole, where ASICS introduces the FF BLAST™ PLUS cushioning alongside strategically placed GEL™ technology units.
That combination creates a lighter and more responsive feel underfoot, helping deliver improved comfort for daily movement. That new construction allows the GEL-NYC™ 2.0 to maintain the comfort-focused DNA associated with ASICS
The sneaker also features an asymmetrical arch support system and strategically placed flex grooves to encourage smoother stride patterns and more efficient movement.
