“They ain’t customs.” With that single phrase, John Geiger sent the sneaker world into overdrive. The designer, best known for his GF-01 and the cult “Misplaced Checks” concept, is back in Nike’s orbit, teasing what looks like an official Air Force 1 collaboration.
Geiger first redefined sneaker luxury back in 2015, taking Nike’s iconic silhouette and turning it into something sharper, sleeker, and undeniably his own. The 2017 collaboration with The Shoe Surgeon reinforced that identity, part street, part avant-garde, and never afraid of noise.
By 2021, the noise turned into a lawsuit. Nike challenged Geiger over design similarities, setting off one of the most talked-about legal sagas in sneaker culture. The settlement in 2022, however, cleared the air, and the runway for new beginnings.
Now, his latest teaser hints at that next chapter. A white tumbled-leather upper, swoosh-shaped overlays in exotic textures, “Geiger” lace tips and branded tissue paper all signal one thing: he’s back.
