Tudor Black Bay 54 Lagoon Blue: A Bold Dive into Summer Style

When Tudor introduced the Black Bay 54 in 2023, it sent a clear message to the watch world: compact dive watches were back. Fast forward to 2025, and the brand is shaking things up once again. The new Tudor Black Bay 54 Lagoon Blue Edition is a bold move that shifts the BB54 from a retro watch into a contemporary summer essential.

Same Bones, New Soul

At first glance, the Black Bay 54 Lagoon Blue doesn’t stray far from the successful formula of its 2023 predecessor. It retains the same perfectly proportioned 37mm steel case, a slim 11.24mm thickness, and the classic dive-watch DNA, screw-down crown, domed sapphire crystal, and 200 meters of water resistance. The engine inside is also familiar: the COSC-certified MT5400 calibre, offering a robust 70-hour power reserve and superior accuracy thanks to its silicon hairspring and variable inertia balance. But where the black-dialled BB54 whispered vintage charm, the Lagoon Blue edition speaks in vivid, modern tones.

A Summer Statement

Let’s talk about the bezel. Gone is the utilitarian black aluminium insert. In its place is something entirely new for the Black Bay line: a mirror-polished steel bezel with a negative-relief 60-minute scale. It’s subtle, elegant, and frankly, gorgeous. Sure, it may pick up more scratches, but it also picks up compliments. This isn’t about blending in, it’s about standing out.

The dial follows suit with a Lagoon Blue tone that evokes tropical water at peak sunshine, paired with a sand-textured finish that’s never been seen before in a Black Bay. It’s beach-ready without being gimmicky. The polished snowflake hands and applied markers gleam with white lume, while deep blue accents anchor the design with just enough contrast.

Form Meets Function

The BB54 Lagoon Blue doesn’t abandon function, it simply repackaged it. Everything that made the original a joy to wear is still here. But with the change in bezel and dial, and a shift to a polished five-link Jubilee-style bracelet with Tudor’s slick T-Fit micro-adjustment system, this watch leans more into lifestyle than legacy. It’s less about deep-sea diving, more about dockside cocktails. Also worth noting: this edition is only available on bracelet for now, no rubber strap option, which further pushes its luxury-forward positioning.

Availability & Pricing

Like its Flamingo Blue and Pink Chrono siblings, the Black Bay 54 Lagoon Blue is part of Tudor’s evolving “daring watches” sub-collection—a move that aligns with the brand’s efforts to play with color, materials, and modernity. It’s not officially limited, but it’s safe to expect high demand and tight supply. Expect to pay CHF 3,900 / EUR 4,240, and likely a bit more on the secondary market.
