To kickstart SS26 West London’s TDR turns to a collaboration that feels totally in line with their DNA. The label teamed up with Brazilian-English artist Tomas Gittins on a super-limited run of Type 2 and Type 3 Hemp Denim Jackets, each one individually screen-printed by hand.
Instead of completely reworking the jackets, TDR choosses to work within a familiar framework, where the garment can act as a canvas. This approach reinforces a core idea that runs through SS26. Progress doesn’t always mean starting over. Sometimes it is about looking at what already works.
A Familiar Silhouette
The Type 2 and Type 3 jackets have long been a central piece in TDR’s collection. The garments are built on classic workwear proportions and wearability. They’re designed to age well, and to accumulate a personal history. What changes is the surface language. Gittins’ artwork brings a new layer of meaning to the jackets without disrupting their function. It’s a reminder that reinterpretation doesn’t have to be disruptive to be impactful. By choosing to work with silhouettes already embedded in the brand’s identity, TDR ensures the collaboration feels integrated rather than imposed.
Artwork
Gittins’ visual language is instantly recognisable. He uses bold optimistic graphics. His work carries a sense of joy, but is underpinned by control. For this collaboration he translates that language onto denim through a cream-toned iteration of his signature motif, printed across the back of each jacket.
Beneath the left chest pocket on the front sits one of Gittins’ core monograms, paired with a small star and his recurring phrase; “The Joy Must Grow.”
Craft sits at the heart of the project. Each jacket is screen-printed by hand in Manchester, ensuring no two pieces are ever exactly alike. Slight variations in ink, texture and placement become part of the garment’s character.
The denim itself is sourced from Japanese mills, known for their precision and heritage. Every jacket arrives with a selection of handmade collaborative badges, giving another layer of individuality.
