Supraw x Clarks Originals: A New Chapter for the Wallabee

The Wallabee has always been more than a shoe. For some, it is a uniform, for others a cultural anchor. Across the UK it became a staple long before the word “streetwear” had entered the mainstream lexicon, woven ingo the daily rotation of terrace culture, reggae heads, indie kids, hip-hop lovers and stylists. Meanwhile, across thr Atlantic, the Wallabee moved through New York rap history like a watermark, stamped by era-defining artists whose co-sign turned a moccassin-like silhouette into something specialZ

To collaborate with Clarks Originals is, in many ways, to enter a cultural programme. And SUPRAW managed to get in. There’s no global launch, no fifty-thousand pairs made, no pairs made to generate online hype or publicity, but just a small amount, just twelve pairs, created for those directly involved, the people who built SUPRAW, and the team who held down their pop-up.

The Beige Pair

The beige Wallabee is made from soft suede, in a sandy colourway, while keeping the iconic Clarks look and material. SUPRAW has opted in to overlay the Wallabee with a visual twist. Embroidered across the vamp is a line-up of happy, cartoonish heads, with thick outlines.

The heads are familiar to those who have been following SUPRAW. The teal, yellow, burnt orange and deep cobalt work perfectly on the beige suede. The artwork itself recalls street murals from the early-2000s. The upper is held by a crepe sole. The pair also features hangtags, including a pink plaid one that nods to Clarks’ own archive patterns.

The Pink Pair

The suede on the pink pair comes in a bubblegum rose, a vivid colour. The colour blends the traditional boundaries of the Wallabee, without losing its form. The embroidered characters are visible here as well, but the pink backdrop amplifies their energy. The iconic characters are now simply done, in a white outline. No overload of colours, but a clean representation of the SUPRAW characters. The vamp, a traditionally clean and uninterrupted space on the Wallabee, becomes the canvas for the artwork on this pink version as well. That’s significant. Clarks historically keeps the vamp untouched. The pink pair clearly represents the brand’s internal family.
