What’s the story behind the name Snowman 420?
Big Narstie : I’ve got to give Bush credit for that one there. Yeah, Bush’s creative skills. Put that one there together still.
MC Bushkin : Basically the name comes from the actual hook of the song, The Snowman, that classic animated film with the snowman and the boy flying around. I took the name from that, and then added ‘420’ to give it our twist, referencing the popular culture around weed. When you put the two together Snowman 420, that’s the vibe we was going for. Doesn’t have to be complicated.
Would you say the song is meant more as a festive anthem or a stoner anthem?
Big Narstie : It’s both because Bush’s hooks are so melodic, and it just fits that period perfectly. Some songs, you know, have those moments that really define a time. Like, we associate certain songs with summer – think about bikinis, Uncle Luke, Miami, and that whole vibe. You get what I mean? Then when winter comes around, and you’re wearing long johns and thermal tops, you start thinking about mulled wine and that cozy feeling. It’s all about those seasonal associations.
MC Bushkin : Yeah, it’s infectious. I mean, when I made it, it was meant to be something for the Christmas season and that time of year. But then, of course, it definitely taps into the whole 420 vibe as well. The goal is for it to become an anthem that lasts all year round – for the smokers and everyone who’s down with the vibe. That’s how we’d like it to go down.
What was the energy like in the studio while you were recording?
MC Bushkin : He killed it. It was so fire that I had to redo my verse. Initially I had a different one.
Big Narstie :I still think his first verse is hard. Blood, it’s bad, bro. It fits perfectly with the Ganja vibe. As you know, I prescribe medical cannabis in the UK for the doctors, so the song just makes sense. Big Narstie, medical baby
Who came up with the best lyric in the song and what was the idea?
Big Narstie : I like when Bushkin says “dragon punch me in my front room” that was me yesterday, this lift was beating me up in my house. You can “dragon punch me in my front room” because my back was leaning against the heater. There was no coming back for me cous.
MC Bushkin : I love the line in the song, ‘1000 watts make my sunshine.’ His whole verse is cold, but that part hits me every time.”
Do you think weed and Christmas go hand in hand?
Big Narstie : Weed is for all the time, you know? I prescribe it for the doctors. I don’t just see weed as weed, I see it as medicine. Weed is giving people a reason to get up in the morning and do things they struggle with. People with conditions like MS, anxiety, or bad arthritis, It helps with all that. Weed’s a part of peoples day-to-day life. We don’t see weed as just something to smoke. My mom and grandmother don’t smoke weed, they drink it and read the Bible. My grandma’s 86, when I first touched weed I was in my dad’s ball bags. We weren’t existing.

MC Bushkin : It’s definitely got healing properties for me. With this song, as much as it’s tongue-in-cheek and celebrating weed, we’re also going to hit them with some memes and ask: why is weed still seen as a criminal offense? You understand? It’s a natural medicine with healing properties. So why is it criminalised? Why are people still being criminalised and tarnished for weed? That’s something we want to change with this song. It’s funny, comical, and a bit tongue-in-cheek, but we hope it breaks down barriers. Sometimes, when things are presented in a funny or comical way, people are more willing to listen because they don’t feel like it’s being forced on them.
If Frosty the Snowman joined you for a 420 session, what strain would he bring to the party?
Big narstie : Oh, it depends. If it’s with Bushkin, we’re keeping it light. My power-up will have him gone for the day. He can’t handle none of that. He’d eat half of the house, bruv.
If fans want to celebrate Snowman 420 properly, how would you recommend they do it?
MC Bushkin – Oh, they can light one up, play the tune in the background, send us the clips, and tag us on the reels and stories. Yeah, man, celebrate and show them it’s a good thing, not a bad thing.
Big Narstie – And if we get snow… roll joints with the Snowmen
What are your favourite parts of Christmas?
Big Narstie – The food and the sleep, those are the two things I really look forward to. There’s something about that big, hearty meal, the kind of food that brings everyone together around the table. You know, all the comfort food, the things that make you feel at home.

MC Bushkin – I appreciate the food and just the family time chilling out with the family, their presence, and that whole vibe. The presence of family members I don’t often get to see. I’m always busy, up and down, but Christmas is actually a time when I take some time out to be still, relax, and just enjoy the vibe. Yeah, all of that
Is there a message you want to send to fans as they light up their vibe for Christmas?
Big Narstie – Eat, drink, be merry and blaze one… And don’t forget about Kwanzaa.
MC Bushkin – Smoke and fly, man. Be like the snowman: smoke, fly, enjoy, and spread love. Peace, love, and pum pum.
The wait is almost over! The song drops this Christmas Day, and we can’t wait to share it with you. Keep an eye on @MCBushkin and @BigNarstie our socials for the release, we’ll post it as soon as it’s live. Stay tuned and happy holidays!
