Nike and Doernbecher Children’s Hospital continue their legacy of hope and creativity with the 20th edition of the Freestyle Collection. Designed by 14-year-old Connor Kassing-Fernandez, the Air Max Dn “Doernbecher” embodies resilience, creativity, and a deep personal story. Connor’s design reflects his strength during his battle with a brain tumor, with details like the glow-in-the-dark outsole emblazoned with the inspiring “Paso a Paso”/“Step By Step” motto and “Battle Scars” text etched into the midsole. Spindly vein-like patterns on the upper further symbolize his journey.
The sneaker is a celebration of Connor’s passions and family history. A haptic print transforms into sheet music, showcasing his love for music, while the heel features a custom “Air Connor” logo inspired by the iconic Tn branding. The lace locks, molded into Lego bricks, nod to one of Connor’s favorite hobbies, and the design incorporates the “Connor Heart,” a unique symbol from his early childhood. Releasing January 25th via SNKRS, every dollar of profit supports Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. Step by step, your purchase helps advance children’s cancer care and honors the creative brilliance of a young designer.
