The Nike Air Max 1000 “Red / Atomic Green” continues Nike’s deliberate move into fully 3D-printed footwear, signalling a future-facing chapter for the Air Max lineage. Developed in partnership with Zellerfeld, this version revisits the model’s original red finish, now contrasted by a striking Atomic Green Air unit that instantly sharpens the visual impact.
First revealed at ComplexCon, the Air Max 1000 felt less like a standard sneaker launch and more like a concept brought to life. Built from a single, seamless printed shell, the shoe eliminates traditional panels, stitching, and overlays entirely. What remains is a sculpted form that feels closer to industrial design than retro running footwear. Yet despite its radical construction, the Air Max DNA is still present, anchored by visible Air and familiar proportions.
That balance between heritage and experimentation defines this colourway. The rich red upper nods to classic Air Max energy, while the exposed green airbag introduces a technical, almost laboratory-like edge. Nothing here feels ornamental. Every element exists to highlight the manufacturing process and the possibilities of digital production. It’s a shoe that looks forward without abandoning Nike’s most recognisable innovation.
Underfoot, the Air unit remains the focal point. The cushioning is visually exposed and structurally integral, reinforcing the idea that comfort and design are being developed simultaneously rather than separately. The ride feels firm but responsive, reflecting the precision-led approach of 3D printing rather than the softness of traditional foam builds.
