Nike continues its creative sneaker storytelling with the upcoming release of the Air Max 1 Low Poly “Tomb Raider”, a design that pays homage to one of gaming’s most legendary action-adventure franchises. Designed by Bryce Wong, this sneaker follows the recently revealed Donkey Kong edition, showcasing Nike’s growing appreciation for video game nostalgia.
The design of the Air Max 1 Low Poly “Tomb Raider” takes direct inspiration from Lara Croft’s classic look in the original 1996 Tomb Raider game. The sneaker’s dark green mudguard, polygonal Swoosh, and gum soles reflect Lara’s iconic green tank top and cargo shorts. The upper features a pixelated, screen-printed mesh aesthetic, paying tribute to the low-poly, blocky graphics that defined early Tomb Raider titles.
Nike stays true to the retro gaming aesthetic with detailed textures and color schemes that bring fans back to the PlayStation and PC gaming era. A light grey variation with a light green Swoosh was also teased in Bryce Wong’s preview, suggesting that another alternate colorway may be on the horizon.
