The New Balance 1000 “Ice Blue” is set to make waves this summer with a fresh, modern palette.
Despite early collaborations with Aimé Leon Dore and Joe Freshgoods, the NB 1000 hasn’t achieved the mainstream popularity of other New Balance silhouettes. However, this upcoming release might change that narrative.
The “Ice Blue” edition features a breathable cream-coloured mesh base, providing both comfort and a neutral backdrop for the vibrant overlays. Varying shades of light blue adorn the synthetic overlays, creating an icy vibe.
The signature ‘N’ logo on the side deviates in material and tone, bringing a glossy element into the mix. Underfoot, the decades old tooling keeps things mostly understated, allowing the upper’s ensemble to revel in the spotlight. Mid-foot shanks, however, bring some of the compelling blue hue from above to the outsole.
Originally released in 1999, the NB 1000 was designed as a performance running shoe. Its reintroduction maintains the technical aspects that made it a standout.
The segmented sole unit features ABZORB cushioning at the heel and forefoot, providing excellent shock absorption. Additionally, a Stability Web midfoot shank offers enhanced support.
