As temperatures begin to drop, nanamica returns to one of its strongest ideas: taking familiar everyday clothing and quietly rebuilding them around function. For AW26, that approach comes through in three outerwear garments that cover very different sides of winter dressing, from the relaxed Cotton CORDURA WINDSTOPPER Balmacaan Coat to the shorter 2L GORE-TEX Down Jacket and longer 2L GORE-TEX Down Coat.
The silhouettes may look understated, but each one hides a carefully considered technical construction. That balance has become central to nanamica, with the Japanese label consistently combining classic wardrobe shapes with fabrics and technologies designed for modern urban life. Its AW26 collection continues that direction, including the new Cotton CORDURA Balmacaan alongside technical GORE-TEX outerwear.
A Balmacaan With a Vintage Past
The Cotton CORDURA WINDSTOPPER Balmacaan Coat starts from a familiar place. Its relaxed A-line shape gives it the proportions of a classic everyday coat, while the garment-washed finish creates a vintage-like texture across the cotton and CORDURA nylon blend chino cloth.
That combination gives the fabric a natural appearance while adding the durability associated with CORDURA nylon. The outer material uses a 70% cotton and 30% nylon construction, giving the coat a tougher hand feel without losing the characteristics of a traditional cotton coat.
Underneath, nanamica adds an organic cotton and COOLMAX® Ecomade twill lining, alongside a WINDSTOPPER® lined that provides windoroof and breathable performance. The pass-through waist pockets also keep the coat practical.
GORE-TEX Meets Down
The two diwn pieces take nanamica’s winter formula furthe, combining insulation with 2-layer ePE GORE-TEX construction. Both use a non-fluorinated waterproof and breathable membrane, water-repellent treatment, recycled nylon ripstop lining and taped seams, creating a barrier against wet and windy conditions while maintaining breathability.
The 2L GORE-TEX Down Jacket keeps things shorter and more compact. Its stand collar and moderately relaxed silhouette give it an easy everyday shape, while the KODENSHI® down provides the insulation. The filling combines 72% down, 20% rayon and 8% feather, with the KODENSHI® construction designed to reflect far-infrared ray back towards the body. Knit ribbing at the collar and cuffs finishes the jacket while helping keep the warmth in.
Then there’s also the 2L GORE-TEX Down Coat, which stretches the same technical idea into a longer, hooded silhouette. It uses the same 2-layer GORE-TEX approach, recycled nylon ripstop lining and taped seams, while the KODENSHI® down provides insulation. The longer shape also brings more coverage for the colder days.
