Mizuno x VRUNK Celebrate Brazilian Sneaker Culture with the Wave Prophecy 13.2

Mizuno Sportstyle once again teams up VRUNK to introduce a reinterpretation of the Mizuno Wave Prophecy 13.2 VRUNK. While VRUNK originates from the south of France, this collaboration is heavily inspired by Brazilian sneaker culture, where technical running sneakers like the Wave Prophecy have become a defining part of street fashion.

Across Brazil, particularly in cities like Sāo Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, high-tech running silhouettes have evolved beyond performance footwear into symbols of style and identity. Sneakers with visible cushioning systems and futuristic design language, like the Wave Prophecy series, are worn as everyday fashion statements within Brazilian music scenes and street football culture.

The Wave Prophecy 13.2 as a Lifestyle Platform

The collaboration builds on the foundation of the Wave Prophecy 13.2, a lifestyle reinterpretation of Mizuno’s long-running Prophecy franchise. The model is designed to translate the brand’s high-performance running technology into a silhouette suitable for everyday wear.

Compared with earlier Prophecy models, the 13.2 introduces a slightly lighter and cleaner upper construction while still keeping the instantly recognisable Infinity Wave Sole structure. This sculptural midsole system distributes impact across the entire foot and creates the futuristic hollow design that has made the Prophecy line stand out. Underfoot, the sneaker also incorporates Mizuno Wave technology alongside X10 carbon rubber in the outsole, enhancing stability and durability.

Colourway

The VRUNK edition introduces a bolder colour palette that reflects the expressive colour language often seen within Brazil. The sneaker has a black base layered with vibrant neon yellow accents and electric blue details. Across the mesh upper, subtle textured patterns add a depth to the design, while still keeping the breathability.

The signature Mizuno RunBird logo appears in bright yellow finish along the side panel. The Infinity Wave sole unit is finished in a glossy black with lime-toned inserts, while the outsole adds an unexpected pop of bright blue. Branding further emphasises the collaboration. Dual-branded lace loops feature both Mizuno and VRUNK signatures, with text reading “VRUNK PERFORMANCE” is seen along the lateral upper.
