In a world where sneakers are often louder than the person wearing them, the SVD x adidas Adizero HRMY Masters of Disguise collection stands out. The team didn’t opt in for neon, or screaming colours or busy graphics. Instead, they opted for something natural and followed one of Mother Earth’s oldest tricks: camouflage. SVD, the Spanish retailer is known for its well-considered curation and has now partnered with adidas to create three limited-edition colourways inspired by the understated beauty of natural camouflage.
Camouflage Inspired
Camouflage is often more than just a simple pattern, it is about survival, ingenuity, resilience and being unnoticeable. Animals, soldiers and even hunters have relied on this technique for years to blend in and move unseen. Streetwear has borrowed from hus language for decades, as a form of rebellion. Masters of Disguise is SVD’s and adidas’ way of taking it one big step further.
Each colourway tells its own story. Fango comes in a swampy green and jungle mud. The Rockstone draws inspiration from the textures of stones and the shells of tiny creatures, celebrating their ingenuity of survival. Blizzard, the most limited version is reserved for friends and family of SVD, and mirrors the icy stillness of a snow-covered landscape.
What makes the collection so special, and strong is the care in the details. Fango has a deep, earthy gue and a rich upper. The Rockstone’s stone-inspired upper is more grounded and almost architectural. Then Blizzard, the friends-and-family pair captures the beauty of frost on the city pavements. SVD has a history of pushing creative boundaries, but the Masters of Disguise collection is something else. Rubén García, CEO and founder of SVD described the project as an popular to “explore the intersection between nature, art, and design in a really original way.”
The Campaign: Óscar Zabala’s art
The concept, developed entirely in-house by SVD, was brought to life visually by Óscar Zabala, a visual artist known for blending digital and physical media has created an immersive story that mirrors the sneakers themselves. Zabala draws inspiration from rave culture, generative art and symbolic colours to create visuals. SVD marked the release with an intimate, immersive event in Madrid. Attendees witnessed live visuals, performances and installations that echoed the collection’s narrative.
