Following the buzz of ComplexCon, Vans turns its attention to Las Vegas for DesignerCon 2025, celebrating the convention’s 20th anniversary with an ultra-limited Half Cab collaboration. This drop is as much about community as it is about footwear, with only 200 pairs slated for release exclusively at the event, cementing its status as a collector’s item from the outset.
Steve Caballero’s Half Cab silhouette has always embodied skateboarding authenticity, and this iteration elevates it with an exuberant, design-conscious palette. Bright blue canvas and suede dominate the upper, contrasted by a bold red tongue, lime-green piping, and the iconic brown-and-yellow Half Cab patch. DesignerCon’s custom embroidery on the heel commemorates two decades of the convention’s creativity and influence, subtly reinforcing the sneaker’s cultural narrative. Each element is deliberate, celebrating both Vans’ skate heritage and the world of art-driven design.
The release also speaks to the intersection of skate culture and collectible streetwear. Vans COO Kai Yuan Kevin Cao framed the collaboration as a celebration of “community and creativity,” highlighting how a skate silhouette can evolve into a design-led canvas for expression. Beyond the aesthetics, the Half Cab retains its original performance integrity: padded collars, vulcanised cupsoles, and durable materials ensure it remains skate-ready while doubling as a wearable art piece.
