CLOT and adidas Originals reunite once again under the creative direction of Edison Chen to reveal the Football Club capsule, a collection that continues the duo’s exploration of global football culture through a streetwear lens. Known for combining Eastern aesthetics with Western street influences. CLOT reinterprets adidas’ rich sporting archive into something more expressive and lifestyle-led.
At the heart of the drop sits the CLOT adidad Samba Espadrille silhouette, one of adidas’ most iconic terrace sneakers. This latest version reinterprets the Samba entirely, with an espadrille-inspired woven midsole, gold tongue branding, and classic suede T-toes.
The CLOT Samba Espadrille
The CLOT Samba Espadrille is built on the instantly recognisable foundation of the classic adidas Samba, but Edison Chen and his team introduce a series of material and construction changes that completely change its characteristics. The most important change is the updated espadrille-style midsole, replacing parts of the traditional gum sole with a woven, rope-inspired base.
Three colourways lead the collection. Starting off with the Classic Black edition strips the design back to its essentials, pairing lightweight nylon and contrasting details that emphasise the clean architecture of the Samba.
The Grass Green colourway offers a more direct nod to football culture. Taking inspiration from the playing surface itself, the vibrant green palette captures the energy of the match while translating that spirit into a wearable everyday sneaker.
Completing the pack is the Floral Pink edition. Departing from the nylon construction seen elsewhere, this version opts for premium leather, allowing the soft pastel hue to contrast against the rich texture of the upper.
The upper remains true to the Samba’s heritage, retaining its low-profile structure, suede toe cap and signature Three-stripe design. However CLOT chose to use premium materials and subtle branding details. Raffia textures feature prominently across the design.
The Capsule Collection
Alongside the footwear, the CLOT Football Club Capsule extends the narrative into apparel and accessories, creating a complete world inspired by the universal language of football. The collection explores the cultural ecosystems surrounding the game-terraces and post-match rituals.
The apparel line incorporates tones of Classic Black, Grass Green and Floral Pink across a range of lifestyle pieces. Jerseys, T-Shirts, shorts and lightweight outerwear form the foundation of the collection. Rose motifs are placed alongside custom club crests, dragon iconography and references to CLOT’s founding year through the use of “MMIII” branding.
The collection’s central idea revolves around redefining the meaning of “FC”. Commonly understood as Football Club, CLOT reinterprets the concept through its own philosophical framework.
