Speedo is taking swim technology into a new era with the launch of Speedo iQ, a connected performance system designed to change how swimmers train, race and understand their performance.
Developed over several years alongside elite athletes and coaches, Speedo iQ combines the brand’s latest swim goggle technology with an intelligent digital platform, delivering detailed insights without distracting swimmers while they’re in the water. Once the session is finished, swimmers can review data including pace, distance, breathing, head position and turn performance, giving them a clearer picture of where and what they can improve.
Built into the latest evolution of Speedo’s Vanquisher training goggle, Speedo iQ uses a sleek, removable smart module that maintains the fit and vision expected from the silhouette. Connected to the Speedo iQ app, the system transforms each swim into a detailed performance breakdown.
One System, All Four Strokes
One of the Speedo iQ’s biggest developments is its ability to capture performance data across all four swimming strokes, allowing swimmers to train and compete using the same technology.
The system is also World Aquatics approved for competition, meaning athletes can take the technology from training sessions directly into competitions. For elite swimmers chasing fractions of a second, that consistency could prove particularly valuable.
Speedo iQ also introduces features such as head playback, giving swimmers and coaches a more complete understanding of technique rather than simply recording how fast a session was.
Built Around How Swimmers Actually Train
Speedo says iQ has been built specifically around the demands of being in the water. The result is a system focused on information that actually matters to swimmers, from breathing patterns and body position to turns and pace.
As three-time Olympic gold medalist Adam Ramsay-Peaty explains, data has become increasingly important at the highest level of competition, where races can be decided by margins of just one of two per cent, or sometimes even less.
