Patta, the community-rooted brand, based in Amsterdam and Joe Freshgoods, Chicago-born, New York-based creative with a unique style, is one of such collabs. At ComplexCon, their joined boot “The Gangs Are Here” was unveiled.
Both parties share a connection, they’re both born from community, hustle and independent creativity without conforming to norms. They have shaped a way of honoring where they came from and the people who helped get there. Both brands have used fashion as a way to start a conversation, highlighting important themes such as identity, race and belonging. Experience over Announcement
Unlike typical events announced days in advance, “The Gangs Are Here” made its mark in real time at ComplexCon. Patta and Joe Freshgoods curated an experience at ComplexCon. Both parties went all-in for an unforgettable experience. At the booth Patta and Joe Freshgoods gave back to the community by hosting a free nailsalon, and barbershop. Attendees als had a chance to connect with Joe Freshgoods and Patta. ComplexCon siits at the intersection of culture, sneakers, music, art and streetwear, it is a living ecosystem where brands and fans unite and stories are told. While full product specifications and items remain under wraps, a title like “The Gangs Are Here” sounds promising. It signals towards a full collaboration reflecting on friendship. “Gangs” can refer to groups who move together, share styles and create together.
About the Brands
Patta was founded in 2004 by Edson Sabajo and Guillaume “Gee” Schmidt as a sneaker boutique built out of passion for hip-hop, sport and street culture. Joe Freshgoods, born Joseph Robinson, stands as one of Chicago’s most vital creative voices. Joseph is known for his ability to blend storytelling, nostalgia and cultural commentary, Joe has shaped the way independent streetwear can look like in America. Through his brand, Joe Freshgoods, he has built a world rooted in community and powered by expression, while using design as a medium to uplift his city and to tell authentic Black stories. Joe Freshgoods has collaborated with Converse, McDonald’s and most notably New Balance.
