The Bad Bunny x adidas Gazelle “Vega Baja” is more than just a sneaker; it’s a love letter to a hometown, wrapped in suede and steeped in symbolism.
As the fourth entry in the Puerto Rico “City Series”, this release takes inspiration from Vega Baja, a coastal municipality in the heart of Puerto Rico and the birthplace of the artist himself.
This narrative-rich edition brings with it a tactile storytelling that resonates far beyond sneaker culture.
Constructed with a golden yellow suede upper, the shoe references the lush colour of ripe mangos, a nod to both the local fruit markets and the vibrant Caribbean sun.
White Three Stripes on the sides keep things grounded in adidas heritage, while green rope laces inject just the right amount of flair. Underfoot, a classic gum sole completes the look with a timeless finish.
But what really elevates this pair is the story that accompanies it. First teased via a full-page advert in The New York Times, the Vega Baja was later unveiled as part of La Historia de Una Collab, a museum-scale showcase in Puerto Rico featuring over 140 of Bad Bunny’s adidas designs.
It’s a project that speaks to roots, identity, and creative ownership, and the “Vega Baja” stands as both a celebration of community and a standout chapter in one of adidas’ most impactful artist collaborations to date.
