Nike is once again pushing the limits of sneaker design with the return of its most experimental Air Max yet the 3D-printed Air Max 1000. Originally debuting in 2024, the silhouette is set for a rerelease on 19 August 2025 in two hyper-limited colourways. The “Oat” edition, a muted beige with an orange heel hit, will be available exclusively via a 10-minute SNKRS draw on 19 August at 6 pm UK time / 10 am PST / 1 pm EST in North America. The all-black version, limited to just 300 pairs, will drop later that evening on 19 August at 8:30 pm UK time / 12:30 pm PST / 3:30 pm EST via Zellerfeld’s website.
A product of Nike’s partnership with German innovators Zellerfeld, the Air Max 1000 is made entirely through advanced 3D printing. Each pair is formed as a single moulded piece from flexible foam, no stitched panels, no glue, no separate upper, resulting in a seamless structure that blends intricate textures with futuristic lines. A visible Air unit in the heel nods to the original 1987 Air Max DNA, while the rest of the design looks straight out of the future.
The shoe first turned heads at Las Vegas ComplexCon 2024, where Nike unveiled the Air Max 1000 at a dedicated Air Max 1000 Experience space. Attendees got an exclusive first look at the design and even a chance to win a pair. Nike’s Chief Innovation Officer, John Hoke, described the release as a breakthrough moment:
“As an innovator, what’s most exciting to me about the Air Max 1000 are the new solutions we can achieve with next-level manufacturing. It’s control, times precision, times expression, all of which are vital to sport and to design. When those variables of control, precision and expression are multiplied at once, the future of our product really does feel unlimited.”
Built with reduced material waste and an adaptive fit, the Air Max 1000 represents Nike’s sweet spot of sustainability and innovation. With production numbers kept tight and anticipation building since its debut, this rerelease is set to be one of the most coveted drops of the summer.
