Nearly five years after fragment design’s original Air Jordan 3 collaboration, a long-rumoured alternate version is finally seeing the light of day.
First circulated as a friends-and-family sample, this black-dominant take on the Hiroshi Fujiwara-led design has now been confirmed for a wider release, reintroducing the minimalist formula with a reversed style.
Visually, the pair carries all the hallmarks of Fujiwara’s design ethos, clean blocking, luxury textures, and precision detailing, but through a sleeker lens.
The upper features rich black tumbled leather throughout the collar, vamp, and tongue, contrasted sharply by smooth white leather wrapping around the mudguard and mid-panel.
Unlike the 2020 release, this edition leans into its dual-tone style with far greater confidence, and no elephant print in sight.
A high-gloss black midsole seamlessly anchors the design, creating an uninterrupted flow from toe to heel.
Below, a solid black outsole maintains the monochrome story. The fragment lightning bolt logo is debossed on the lateral heel, placed subtly but unmistakably within the clean white overlay, while tooling code text remains etched above the Air unit, a detail that’s now a signature of fragment’s Jordan collaborations.
