Jordan Brand’s Nike Air Jordan 1 Low “Lucky Cat” shows how much the brand has matured in its approach to cultural storytelling. Rather than leaning into overt Lunar New Year tropes, this February 2026 release takes a quieter, more symbolic route, allowing meaning to emerge through material choices and carefully placed details.
The colour palette is restrained but purposeful. Dragon Red leather energises the forefoot, while black panels dominate the rest of the upper, anchoring the design and keeping it grounded. Yellow piping traces key edges, adding contrast while subtly referencing traditional ornamental finishes. The materials feel elevated, with textures that are more refined than typical seasonal AJ1 Lows.
The defining detail sits front and centre on the tongue. An embroidered Maneki-neko graphic appears on both shoes, referencing the Lucky Cat symbol associated with prosperity, success and good fortune.
While the icon originates in Japanese culture, its widespread adoption across Chinese communities adds another layer of meaning, reinforcing the shoe’s cross-cultural narrative.
A removable gold bell lace charm completes the theme without overwhelming it. Inside, Chinese characters reading “招财猫” translating to “Lucky Cat” or “Cat That Brings Wealth”, are printed on the insoles.
