Nigel Sylvester has just lifted the lid on a brand-new Air Jordan 3, and before anyone asks, no, this one isn’t touching retail shelves. The BMX icon has confirmed the pair is strictly Friends & Family, capped at just 50 pairs.
From the first glance, the shoe reads like a personal artefact rather than a commercial project. The upper switches out the usual tumbled leather for a textured, canvas-inspired fabric covered in swirling abstract patterns. It looks almost hand-brushed, slightly chaotic, slightly vintage, the sort of aesthetic that fits perfectly within Nigel’s lane of functional style and lived-in storytelling.
Black nubuck panels wrap the mudguard, eyestays, and midsole, adding structure and grounding the wilder artwork above. These darker elements keep the silhouette familiar, ensuring the experimental upper doesn’t overshadow the AJ3’s classic shape. A teal Jumpman on the tongue, one of the only hits of colour, cuts through the muted palette with sharp contrast, acting like a signature stamped across the design.
