Copenhagen’s Ganni has renewed its partnership with New Balance for another release, this time reworking the hybrid between a loafer and a sneaker, the snoafer. Scheduled to release on the 24th of September.
A golden snakeskin print stretches across the toe box and tongue, giving a certain flair to this hybrid model. In contrast, glossy black leather overlays lock down the rest of the structure, injecting a depth and giving a more consistent feeling to this model. Chrome-toned hardware details add another dimension, while beige accents on the pull tab and sole give the 1906L a softer feel.
True to New Balance’s heritage the 1906L carries the technical shape of the 1906 family. It still has the chunky, performance-inspired sole, that made it a classic model. Ganni scripts are featured on the tongue, alongside subtle New Balance cues on the heel and insole.
The 1906L is an interesting choice to collaborate on, it falls between a sneaker and slip-on, while shaped as a loafer. The model challenges the traditional perceptions of the New Balance models. For Ganni it is nothing new. Ganni has been known for having a more disruptive playful style.
Underfoot, New Balance’s DNA remains intact. The chunky, performance-inspired sole unit provides a visual anchor to the upper’s style, while delivering the comfort and durability that the brand has long been known for.
