Reebok x IDEA Reimagine the Club C 85 Through an Editorial Lens

Reebok linked up with London-based publishing and design studio IDEA for a unique reinterpretation of one of its most recognisable silhouettes. The Reebok x IDEA Club C 85 brings together two brands connected by heritage and cultural storytelling.

Instead of reinventing the Club C 85, IDEA approaches the silhouette through the lens of appreciation and discovery, highlighting the small details that have helped make the model a classic. The collaboration explores how familiar objects can take on new meaning through thoughtful design.

The Reebok Club C

Originally introduced as a tennis sneaker in the 1980s, the Club C 85 has evolved far beyond the court to become one of Reebok’s most legendary lifestyle silhouettes. Its clean shape, minimal branding and versatile construction have allowed it to remain relevant for many generations, making it the perfect foundation for collaborations.

IDEA’s Interpretation

The Reebok x IDEA Club C 85 features an entirely IDEA-designed upper that combines premium suede and canvas materials, creating a refined expression of the classic silhouette. Keeping the original character of the Club C intact, the collaboration also introduces subtle updates that reward closer inspection.

The standout feature comes through the addition of glow-in-the-dark details, this adds a hidden layer to the sneaker that only reveals itself in specific moments. This element connects directly with the tagline of the campaign, “They Go In The Dark,” and celebrates the idea that the most interesting details are often discovered at a later point, instead of being immediately visible.

Additionally, custom elements include specially designed tongue labels, heel brandingc terry lining for enhanced comfort, a custom footbed, tonal laces with an alternative lace option and exclusive packaging to complete the collaboration.

Reebok and IDEA

IDEA was founded in 2012 hy David Owen and Angele Hill and has developed a reputation for transforming everyday cultural objects into carefully considered collectible pieces. Through books, magazinds and design projects, the London-based studio explores fashion, photography, art, sport and visual culture.

For IDEA, the Club C 85 represented the perfect canvas for the collaboration.

“Reebok has always understood the relationship between sport, design and culture,” said David Owen, co-founder of IDEA. “The Club C 85 is an absolute classic – some designs never need replacing, rebooting or re-inventing. Because we approached this collaboration as an homage, we looked for the most perfect shoe and found it in the Club C. At IDEA, we’re drawn to the details that make something feel timeless, while finding subtle ways to make it relevant today. The glow-in-the-dark elements add a hidden element to the shoe, revealing itself in unexpected moments, much like the references and details we’re always exploring.”

Reebok’s own history has always been shaped by the connection between communities and sports. Through partnerships such as this, the brand continues to revisit its archive and explore how its most recognisable silhouettes can be reinterpreted through different cultural viewpoints.

“Throughout its history, Reebok has been shaped by the athletes, communities and creative movements that have made the brand what it is today,” said Mubi Ali, Global Senior Product Marketing Manager at Reebok. “IDEA has a unique ability to uncover meaning in everyday artifacts and present them in a way that feels fresh and relevant. This collaboration allows us to revisit our archive through a new lens while celebrating the moments that continue to inspire future generations.”
