The Nike Book 1 “Torched” marks the final chapter of Devin Booker’s first signature silhouette, closing the run with a concept-heavy release rooted in Phoenix mythology and rebirth. After more than 30 colourways since the model’s debut, this pair feels intentionally conclusive, both in story and execution.
The upper is built from frayed white canvas, immediately setting it apart from previous Book 1 iterations. Scorched detailing appears across the toebox, Swoosh, laces, and heel, creating the impression of a shoe that’s been through fire and come out transformed. The burn marks don’t stop at the upper either, continuing onto the outsole so the narrative feels complete rather than surface-level.
Subtle design choices reinforce the theme without tipping into excess. A cut-out hole on the tongue tag references damage and wear, adding texture to the story without relying on overt graphics. Inside the shoe, each pair is marked “1 of 1996”, a nod to Booker’s birth year and confirmation of the model’s tightly limited production.
