Umbro and Highsnobiety Explore Football’s Lasting Cultural Legacy

Highsnobiety and Umbro UK have united for a collaboration rooted in the moment that shaped generations beyond the scoreline. This project explores football’s enduring emotional and cultural imprint through a limited-edition collection, original editorial content and a campaign that celebrates one of Umbro’s most influential eras.

Directed by German visual storyteller Lukas Korschan, the campaign takes inspiration from Goal Posts, the much-loved film directed by John Hardwick that captured the optimism, friendship and freedom of growing up with football during the early 2000s. The collaboration builds upon its themes, reflecting on the moment that made football matter long before the professional game entered the picture.

Umbro Returns go Manufacturing Performance Footwear in the UK

At the heart of the collaboration sits the debut silhouette from Umbroms forthcoming turf boot series, marking a significant new chapter for the British sportswear brand. Manufactured and photographed in Sheffield, a city deeply connected to both football history and Umbro’s own operations, the boot represents the brand’s return to producing performance footwear on home soil for the first time in years.

A Collection Inspired by Football’s Golden Era

Alongside the footwear comes a bespoke football kit, manufactured in Portugal and designed to reinterpret the timeless visual language of classic football culture through a contemporary lens.

Highsnobiety also produced original editorial features that further explore football’s relationship with identity, style and everyday life. Together, the collection and accompanying storytelling position football as something that continues to influence culture far beyond the ninety minutes of play time.

The Joy of Playing the Game

The campaign itself is built around the energy and freedom that come with growing up around football. The visuals in the campaign celebrate a time when the game was simply about being outside , and playing with friends until the sun went down.
