Across the 9th and 10th of May, two of England’s most historic football competitions, the Emirates FA Cup and the Adobe Women’s FA Cup come off the pitch and stel into the gallery space with The Art of Possibility. Hosted at the Saatchi Gallery space in London, the exhibition is a first-of-its-kind crossover, exploring how tournaments have shaped the culture beyond the game itself.
Spanning across three gallery spaces, the exhibition is designed as an immersive journey through the past, present and future of both competitions. It positions the FA Cup as a platform for opportunity and storytelling, reflecting over 150 years of football heritage.
Art, Archive and Immersion
At the heart of The Art of Possibility is a varied amount of newly commissioned artworks, historical artefacts, unseen photography and digital installations. The exhibition brings together 12 contemporary artists, including Mattia Guarnera, Carlo Bellman, Navinda Nangla and Slawn, each giving their own interpretation of what the FA Cup means.
Their work is placed alongside archive materials that captures important moments from the competitions’ history, adding a contrast between heritage and modern creativity.
