There’s no shortage of strong brands arriving at The Garbstore. With the likes of Kapital, nanamica, YMC, mfpen, Gramicci and Post O’Alls all represented on the shop floor, the standard is high.
That said, every so often a few pieces cut through the noise. They do that because they feel complete and are easy to build around.
Kapital
If there’s a brand that knows how to make an entrance without asking permission, it’s Kapital. The Japanese label’s latest trio lands as a ready-made uniform of sorts.
The Rain Camo Track Jacket does most of the talking. It’s cut generously through the body, with that familiar Kapital looseness, and wrapped in a distinctive rain camouflage print that feels equal parts playful and militant. The fabric has a technical edge, light enough for layering but substantial enough to hold shape. Ribbed cuffs and hem keep it rooted in classic sportswear territory, though the overall silhouette leans more street than track.
Underneath, the Fine Stripe Baseball Jersey brings structure to the chaos. The vertical striping is crisp and deliberate, nodding to vintage American athletics without drifting into costume. The cut is boxy, sleeves relaxed, the kind of piece that looks better slightly oversized.
Then you’ve got the 11.5oz Denim Jumbo Monkey Pants. Wide, weighty and unmistakably Kapital. Inspired by old military “monkey” trousers with oversized rear patch pockets, they’ve been exaggerated into a fuller, more sculptural shape.
Nanamica
The Japanese brand has made a habit of refining familiar menswear shapes through quietly technical fabrics, and this season is no different.
The ALPHADRY suiting set is the standout. On paper, it’s a straightforward two-piece, a blazer with matching trousers. In reality, it’s a bit more practical. The ALPHADRY fabric is moisture-wicking, quick-drying and built with stretch, meaning it moves properly throughout the day. It resists creasing, handles long hours and feels closer to performance wear than traditional tailoring.
The jacket is softly structured, free from heavy padding, allowing the fabric to do the work. The trousers sit comfortably through the thigh with a clean line down to the hem.
In contrast, nanamica’s Selvedge Denim Pant is slower and more traditional in spirit. Woven on shuttle looms, the denim carries that tight selvedge finish and subtle texture that rewards patience. The cut is relaxed but tidy, easy to pair with everything from the ALPHADRY blazer to a simple tee.
Mfpen
Mfpen rarely misses. The Copenhagen-based label has built a name in taking familiar wardrobe dtaples and adjusting them.
One of those items is the Executive Shirt. This piece lives up to its name, but not in the way that can be expected. The fit is relaxed and elongated with a soft shoulder. The fabric, which is often sourced from surplus or deadstock mills is special. Alongside it sits the Evening shirt. The fabric is made to carry more drape and to sit lighter on the body.
