Reebok Celebrates 30 Years of the Question With the Question Mid Recoded

Reebok and Allen Iverson are celebrating 30 years of the Question with a new version of the basketball icon. Introducing the Question Mid Recoded, a release that keeps the original silhouette and defining design details intact while updating the technology underfoot for modern play. The result brings one of basketball’s most recognisable sneakers back to the court without losing the character that made it a classic.

First released in 1996 alongside Allen Iverson, the Question quickly established itself as one of basketball’s defining signature sneakers. Iverson’s fearless style of play and influence beyond the court helped turn the silhouette into a cultural icon, cementing its place in sneaker history. Now, as Reebok marks its 30th anniversary, the brand revisits the original with updated performance features designed for a new generation of players.

The Question, Reengineered for Today

The Question Mid Recoded introduces a new direction for Reebok’s basketball line. The brand has kept its visual DNA intact and focused on improving the experience underfoot. Adjustments to the fit, cushioning and traction aim to make the sneaker more comfortable and responsive.

The updated construction includes a reimagined outsole traction pattern, keeping the look of the original. A Super Critical Foam pod adds lightweight cushioning, while a midsole stability plate provides additional control during play. The premium leather upper also keeps the Question’s iconic appearance, with a reshaped construction designed to offer a more forgiving fit.

Two Colourways Mark Three Decades

The Question Mid Recoded comes in two colourways. The original Red Toe returns with its pearliaed leather toe, bringing back one of the silhouette’s defining elements from its 1996 debut. The colourway has also been introduced by rising Team RBK.B athlete Tounde Yessoufou.

Joining it is the 30th anniversary Green, a colour choice tied to the traditional symbolism of the 30th anniversary. Representative renewal and new beginnings, the green edition gives the silhouette a fresh new identity.

For Iverson, the anniversary is about keepijg the attitude behind the original alive. “30 years later and the legacy continues”, he said. “This shoe has always been about doing things your way and not asking for permission. The Question Mid Recoded keeps that same energy alive for the next generation.”

Reebok Basketball Designer Anthony Hale explains that the design process centred on preserving the original silhouette while bringing its performance up to date. The aim was to respect the shape that became part of Iverson’s identity, while applying the brand’s latest understanding of how a modern basketball sneaker should fit and perform.

Philadelphia Celebrates Allen Iverson’s Legacy

The release will also be markedwith a special event in Philadelphia, the city closely connected to Iverson’s career. Reebok and Foot Locker will host an immersive experience at the BOK Building, bringing together interactive moments, retail and game-day activations that celebrate his influence on basketball and culture.

The pop-up takes place on 10 November from 2pm to 7pm at 1901 S 9th Street, Philadelphia. On November 10th 1PM BST, the all-new Reebok Question Mid Recoded ($170 MSRP) will become available in the U.S. on Reebok.com and exclusively at Foot Locker, expanding globally on November 16th.
