For its 45th anniversary, Detroit retailer Puffer Reds partners with adidas to deliver the Adistar “Track 45.” A sneaker rooted in Detroit’s deep connection to music, style, and community, the design blends archival storytelling with modern craftsmanship. The release marks the culmination of Puffer Reds’ four-year journey in adidas’ Business Track program at Pensole Lewis College of Footwear Design, a program designed to empower retailers with the tools to step into sneaker creation.
The Adistar “Track 45” carries Detroit’s spirit in every detail. Its upper features vinyl-inspired textures, a nod to the store’s legendary Wall of Fame, while the red and granite colorway grounds the design in bold yet timeless energy. On the heel, the 313 and 734 area codes proudly stamp the city’s identity, and “Detroit” appears across the outsole in Lions blue, paying homage to local pride. Both a sneaker and a cultural time capsule, this collaboration reflects Puffer Reds’ role in shaping Detroit’s style for over four decades.
