The Air Jordan 6 “Cap and Gown” arrives next summer as the latest chapter in Jordan Brand’s ongoing series celebrating big milestones and bigger moments. Ever since the all-black Air Jordan 11 landed in 2018, the line has become a staple for graduations and ceremonies. The AJ13 followed a year later, and each release has added a layer of polish to silhouettes usually associated with court dominance rather than formalwear.
This upcoming AJ6 doesn’t stray from the formula, but it certainly tweaks it. The familiar deep black finish returns, though this pair plays with light much more deliberately. Reflective piping threads through the upper, catching flashes as you move, while silver accents sit cleanly on the midsole and heel spoiler, giving the shoe the kind of depth the original Cap and Gown models hinted at but never fully explored. It’s still understated, but there’s a newfound sharpness running through the design. The matte outsole keeps the palette grounded, and Jordan Brand appears to be steering the shape closer to the early-2000s and late-’90s builds.
