Inspired by the raw energy of BMX life and the authenticity that comes with time-worn kicks, the Jordan 1 Nigel Sylvester “Better With Time” (a.k.a. “Nitro”) is a masterclass in storytelling through sneaker design.
Offered as a low-top variation, this is the first time the NYC BMX veteran’s collaboration lands on the Air Jordan 1 Low OG platform.
Unmistakably thematic, the upper is crafted from tumbled black leather, marked by hand-applied scuffs and creases that speak to lived experience, an aesthetic made iconic in Nigel’s earlier Jordan collaborations.
Complementing this distressed upper are aged muslin accents on the Swoosh, laces, and midsole, evoking a sense of vintage wear. A bold Varsity Red outsole, also given an aged finish, adds contrast and visual drama.
Upon the tongue, Nigel’s signature “Bike Air” logo appears, while the insole echoes the same motif, an emblem of his unique blend of sport, art, and story.
Packaging also plays a part in the narrative; a specially designed box features bike silhouette graphics under the lid.
