Boston-born, Italy-based designer Metagirl has carved a niche for herself by creating highly detailed, gem-studded customs, but her latest collaboration with Saucony takes a very different path.
The project, titled “Daughter of the Moon”, trades overt sparkle for subtlety, relying on mood, texture and symbolism rather than crystals.
The build reworks the Progrid Paramount, a high-performance runner that once sat at the top of Saucony’s line in the late 2000s and early 2010s, standing alongside models like the Omni 9 and Triumph 4.
The Paramount’s history as a flagship cushioned trainer gives this collaboration a strong foundation. Visually, the design is rooted in pearl tones, chosen for their connection to Vedic imagery of the moon, water and movement.
These are punctuated with lavender accents, softening the palette without diluting its elegance. Instead of crystals, details come through in lace edging around the collar and a sculpted heel clip, both of which give the shoe structure and refinement.
The name itself, “Daughter of the Moon”, draws directly from Vedic symbolism, tying the shoe to ideas of fluidity, energy and transformation. It’s this layer of narrative that elevates the sneaker beyond simple material choices.
