Martine Rose once again blurs the lines between avant-garde fashion and technical sportswear with her latest Nike Shox MR4 release, now emerging in a fresh “Varsity Red” accented colourway.
Originally introduced as a radical reinterpretation of the heritage Shox silhouette, the MR4 remains one of the most uncompromising designs in Nike’s collaborative portfolio , and this edition takes that tension even further.
At first glance, the shoe retains its signature squared-off toe box and warped low-riding shape, a silhouette that’s deliberately unbalanced and defiantly unconventional.
The upper is dressed in white synthetic panelling, layered with tonal ecru overlays that lend depth and structural tension.
Pops of varsity red animate the heel and inner tongue lining, while the oversized, dual-layered Swoosh, in contrasting yellow and red.
Beneath it all, the MR4’s distinctive black and red Shox columns protrude from the heel like mechanical tendons, continuing the model’s theme of deconstructed functionality.
Worn recently by esports champion SonicFox at EVO 2025, the shoe’s cultural reach has extended far beyond the runway, asserting its place in fashion-forward performance culture.
