Kapital: A Fusion of Japanese Craftsmanship and Americana

Founded in 1985 by Toshikiyo Hirata in Kojima, Okayama Prefecture, often referred to as Japan’s “Denim Capital” Kapital has garnered a cult following for its unique blend of traditional Japanese techniques and American-inspired style.

The brand masterfully incorporates methods such as boro (a form of textile mending) and sashiko (decorative reinforcement stitching) into its designs, creating a distinctive style often termed “Japanese Americana.”

Kapital’s signature skeletal motif has become emblematic of its innovative approach to fashion, further solidifying its status among enthusiasts. The brand’s influence is evident in its diverse product range, which includes denim, workwear, and eclectic handcrafted garments.
